Binary Barrel began as a passion project with a simple goal: to expand the whiskey landscape in Iowa while putting local crops and local creativity at the center of every bottle. What started as an idea has grown into a small, hands-on distillery built on experimentation, precision, and community.

Today, the operation is run by husband and wife- often with Moose, our loyal Newfoundland, keeping watch. Every batch is crafted with care, built from the ground up using Iowa-grown grains whenever possible and shaped by both time-honored distilling practices and modern, tech-driven processes.

We are proudly a small-batch, startup-scale distillery, focused on quality first- and growth second. That means we stay flexible, experimental, and open to new ideas. We absolutely believe the best spirits are built together, which is why we actively collaborate with our local community to develop unique, limited-run batches and bold new concepts.

While whiskey is our foundation, we also produce craft vodka and gin, and we’re always pushing into experimental territory. If you’ve got an idea for a batch, chances are- we want to hear it.
